How severe are your hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids are classified as Grade 1 through Grade 4, depending on your symptoms. This system helps doctors diagnose the stage your hemorrhoids are in and decide which treatment is appropriate for you.

The following questions can help you determine the severity of your hemorrhoid condition.

If you answer “Yes,” your hemorrhoid grade is:

• Do your hemorrhoids bleed?..........................................................................................  Grade 1
• Do your hemorrhoids protrude with bowel movements and reduce spontaneously?.....  Grade 2
• Do your hemorrhoids protrude and remain protruded unless reversed manually?......... Grade 3
• Are your hemorrhoids prolapsed and cannot be reversed?............................................ Grade 4
